When you go on holiday it is important that you are armed with the cash as well traveller’s cheque so that you are armed for every eventuality.
It is always wise to shop around for your cash as different companies offer different packages for your cash. Airports usually offer a very high exchange rate, and will often give you much less for your money which is why it is always a good idea to make sure that you remember your cash when leaving for the airport!
When buying foreign cash on a commission based exchange the rate of exchange is usually very good, as the agent is receiving a commission fee on top of the exchange rate. However when using a non commission based agent the exchange rate may be less as it will be in the agents favour.
It is important that you think about how much money that you may need to take as this can also help you get the most for your money. For example, if you are taking a large amount of money, it may be best to go with a commission based exchange as a percent may be less than the amount you lay lose on a low commission rate.
You will also be able to ask your travel agent where is the most suitable place to travel to get more for your money, for example Goa is very cheap to stay in for British tourists compare to Barbados.
You can exchange your money for foreign cash at your local travel agents, most high street retailers for example M&S, Tesco, Sainsbury's, Halifax Bank of Scotland and Lloyds TSB.
You can also arrange your exchange online with a company like Travelex. Delivery is usually free when bought with a certain amount of exchange and you can usually change any money back after holiday commission free.
